Obssession Du Jour: Orange

It's official. I have orange fever. Ever since I got back from New York (where I stocked up an orange blush, and 4 different shades of orange lipsticks) I've been frustrated at the lack of bright hues offered in the Australian fashion market. Maybe I'll just have to wait another six months for it to pop up. Orange was all over Resort 2011 and Spring 2011 runways, and these lovelies, are already ahead of the game! It has also been popping up in editorials. Orange you glad? Tip: if orange is too daring for you, try burnt orange in your outfit, and peachy orange lipstick for your smackers!
Honestly, how many times have you held up two identical dresses in the dressing room and thought "orange (replace with red/green/yellow) or black?" One more spin in front of the mirror and you're out the door with the black dress because, "it goes with everything" and "I can get more wear out of it". I do it all the time. But this year, scrap that mentality, and look here, be inspired!

Straw Boater

Now that the weather is warming up, I've been noticing more and more frequent gnawing spring obsessions. Top of my list  is the perfect straw school-girl boater hat, that will do well for any spring 2011 wardrobe. Think Huckleberry and Tom, sharecroppers, Amish farmers, French film 'L'Amant', private school girls and the resort 2011 collection of Erin Fetherston

L'Amant: Erin Fetherston Resort 2011

With each click of my mouse, the girlie-girl in me is squealing with pure delight with the Erin Fetherston Resort 2011 collection. I longed to blog about it, so I apologise for the lack of post these past few weeks! With Erin Fetherston, who remains to be one of my favourites (since her 2009 Fall RTW), you always know what to expect from her collections - feminine, flirty and dreamy - her signature aesthetic, this time with delightful details such as bows, pleats, boater hats, peter pan collars, sweetheart necklines, cigarette pants, and oh so pretty cocktail frocks. And that soft metallic gold one-shoulder minidress is a real knock out! I love it how she's so fantasy-driven (quite like me) and she is always consistent with her vision. This collection is inspired by the French film L'Amant (The Lover) set in Indochina in the 1920's. I'm in love...

P.S. The model is Emily Wake, a beautiful Australian who apparently did her first shows last season. I absolutely adore models with 'juvenile' features! Keep a look out for her. I have a feeling she'll become a sought after first-face by every designer.

I am 23, going on 13

This has almost nothing to do with the Sound of Music. Let me just say that apparently I’m 30 going on 13. I don’t know what happened bu...
