2012 Fall designer looks I want to recreate.

I've been very uninspired the last few weeks. The fact of the matter is, I've reach that seasonal (or trans-seasonal) point when it's too soon to whole-heartedly indulge in layering, leather, and fur. As it happens, I've just been going back to a safe combination of black jeans, t-shirt, collared shirt, and oxford shoes.

During my 4 hour tutorial this morning, instead of dumbing down designer apparel for a lower-priced market, which was what we were supposed to do, I was discreetly going through the Fall collections from Paris Fashion Week on style.com on my laptop (nodding every now and then to show I was listening to the lecturer). Fortunately, temperatures are FINALLY dropping Down Under, as indicated by my wearing of opaque tights today, and Fashion Weeks came to pass. And so I really can't wait to be recreating designer looks by Charlotte RonsonPaul Smith, Dsquared2, Isabel Marent and Frankie Morello this season! Super duper excited!

Neutral Territory

Camels, Coppers, Olives, Khaki, Taupe, Tan and Ochres. Timeless, classic, inoffensive colours.  It's only been these last seasons that I have begun to love wearing these essential hues. It is rather more interesting that a monochromatic outfit. Deftly blending multiple shades of khaki, taupe, and tan to create nuanced outfits, is an Art.
The runway origins of this neutral trend are vast, so it's impossible to narrow it down to a single, definitive example. That said, I do have my favourites! For inspiration purposes, check out the Burberry Prorsum, Celine, Stella McCartney, and Chloe 2010 shows. Neutral and minimal.

London Calling

Today I saw a tall well-dressed boy in a Burberry-esque ink military-inspired coat with 'regency' hair (men's 2010 hair trend I'm loving, see Bottega Venata Menswear SS09, Marni Menswear FW09, Burberry Prorsum Menswear SS09), and I just had to do a double take. No, a triple take. A quadruple take. I think it was because he was so perfectly in tune with the mens fashion trend, and also his style had a certain British charm. He reminded me of this particular editorial in the September issue of GQ Japan, featuring Burberry Prorsum's Menswear FW10 collection, paired with the men's hair trend and other styling trends that you'd do well to take note of.
