Olsens' Shoes
They've nearly single-handedly (nearly, because Katie Holmes played a part) made me love ladylike heels again - pointy toes, stilettos, kitten heels, bows etc. These are ideal examples of how refreshing a change from those big heavy wedges can be. It also whispers, "I'm a well put-together, sophisticated, female grown-up".

Modern Classics: Vogue Australia January 2011
J'adore all these looks. These are just simply chic, and the colour palette so tasteful, n'est ce pas? These are the pieces one should invest on. My oh, my, I want my hands on the tortoise-shell cat-eye sunglasses.

Octobre Inspirations
A handful of designers (Louis Vuitton, Karen Walker, Marc Jacobs, Celine, Proenza Schouler, and recently Dsquared2) are inspiring my personal wardrobe choices. I love how the fashion tide is towards polished lady-like looks. It's very grown up and chic. I'm incorporating this trend into my wardrobe via button up shirts, pleated skirts, boyfriend blazers, and girly stack heels. I'm also crazy about animal print accents; a hint of leopard is the ideal way to freshen up classic staples and make them feel current again. All in all, I'm incredibly excited.
I've been needing a new handbag for so long (I've been using my Veronika Maine black leather and chain handbag for every occasion, both appropriate and inappropriate). I want a replacement that is so far from what handbags have become expected be. Something minimal to the extreme, like this Chloe beauty.

Obsession du Jour: Septembre
Life is a bit full at the moment, so I haven't been able to post as much as I'd like - although I am certainly endeavouring to. However I thought I had to share some more of my current inspiration with you all. I'm still fascinated with modest length, shirts, monochrome, and quirky mini-trends (like, say, turbans). Pieces that manage to meld the two aesthetics of austere 1950's femininity and traditional menswear - with a touch of minimalism thrown into the mix too. I'm also obsessed with straw, gingham, and all things shabby and rural. I'm quite disappointed that I'll be jetting off to Asia when summer hits the southern hemisphere, because I won't be able to make the most of my spring/summer 2011 wardrobe. I'm that obsessed.

Late 50's soft, ladylike styling: ELLE Sweden August 2010
I am smitten with the August edition of ELLE Sweden's retro, ladylike, soft styling and glamourous vintage looks. Say bonjour to fuller figures and longer hemlines, as the skirt and dress silhouette of the late 50's and early 60's swing their way back onto the scene as a 2011 trend. You can go the sweetly conservative debutant route I will probably be taking, per Fendi, Dries Van Norton and Louis Vuitton, or try Isabel Marant's sexy siren look, a la Olivia Newton-John as 'Sandy' in Grease (after the makeover!). Another alternate silhouette of the sensual 60's is the pencil skirt or the straight cut sheath - not only cinching in the waist but clinging to the hips as well (see L'Wren Scott S/S 2010).
